After winning MasterChef South Africa, Shawn Godfrey took The Roasted Dad to new heights
The Roasted Dad started as an Instagram account, to share my love for cooking and recipes with friends and family. I then entered (and won) MasterChef South Africa, and this is when The Roasted Dad grew to what it is today.
What is The Roasted Dad now?
After winning MasterChef, I decided to take The Roasted Dad to the next level. I’ve had several pop-up restaurants, have run cooking demos, cooked at 360on62, designed the menu for the DTK wine 60 year celebration. I’ve judged a potjie competition alongside Pete Geoff-Wood and Arno Carstens. I’ve cooked for the mayor of Cape Town, the CEO of Investec and many others at a number of private events.
I became a Pick n Pay brand ambassador, featured in a few @home adverts and catalogues, and collaborated with Mercedes, Everdure, Veldskoen and Lifetree Collection (among other brands). I still get involved with cooking events every so often.
And I regularly share recipes on my blog as well as on my Instagram page. Because how did I end up winning MasterChef in the first place? What does the Roasted Family get up to in general? Private Dinner Parties and Cook-with-Me Demos
I host private dinner parties, cook-with-me demonstrations at different venues in Cape Town such as Makers Landing, the Bosch Showroom. These are always great fun for a team building or other corporate event but can also work for a family reunion or to celebrate a special occasion.
I also do restaurant takover and consultancy.
